Let me get this straight - instead of repairing an Olympic-sized pool, it was filled in with gravel, now they want millions of dollars to build a new pool? We go over to the YMCA with an admission price so high it is completely inaccessible, constantly closed for maintenance, and a perfectly good separate outdoor pool which appears public but doesn’t allow outside food/drink, upcharges for slides, and has a season so short you might blink if you missed it? Am I missing something here?
Why didn’t anyone consider re-apportioning that $28,500 on lining the old pool with Hypalon or like?
You know what I think? DIG UP that gravel and DIRT, re-line the pool, and get it back in operation with generous year-round PUBLIC HOURS, then compete with or force down the pricing of seemingly public-private YMCA, get that summer pool going with appropriate hours and functioning as a public pool should, get that lake open year-round so The People have something to do with their idle hands and minds.
Exhume and AUDIT the pool with a 3rd party after digging it up and before applying that Hypalon to see if there really was a leak in the first place; and store up or use all that gravel the next time that inferior chip treatment, or better, is applied to the roads.
Vote NO on Scottsbluff Proposition 1, and let’s together force public-private prices back to earth with hours of existing pools that read “ALWAYS OPEN” rather than find The People squeezed the more for this roll-out. For goodness sakes, let’s get our elders their saunas, spas, and social amenities for free or reasonable cost, as with the expectation of reasonable cost and MAINTENANCE of all that we love.
Oh and, stop stifling local businesses while calling these great big projects generous to this end, end aerial-sprayed crops within AT LEAST 100 yards of CHILDREN where they SLEEP, and fix the zoning problem which appears to be forcing both the hands of The People and to prevent the same growth problems which are PLAGUING this town BY DESIGN.
