LM Studio LLM Memory Poisoned

Well, it finally happened. My local LLM’s which were optimized for success no longer load. Something to do with memory bloating or leaking. Only, I haven’t changed any settings. Any time the model gets too good locally (or even paid), they shut 'er down. Wouldn’t want anyone having their very own home-based bot getting too powerful, would we? Wouldn’t want to interrupt that MONOPOLY, would we?

🥲 Failed to load the model

Error loading model.

(Exit code: 18446744072635812000). Unknown error. Try a different model and/or config.

Fun fact, if you’re trying to squeeze memory from a turnip, check this out!

If you are on Windows, a quick graphics driver reset via Win + Ctrl + Shift + B will forcefully flush your active GPU memory cache.

I’ve been passively diagnosing this for about two days now. I really don’t want to nuke windows, so I’m hoping my skills as a computer tech will prevail.

But from before, this doesn’t feel organic. This feels like a rug pull. So I’m not optimistic this approach will be easy to fix.

Anticipating this in a phone call with a friend over four years ago (my how time flies), I started breaking ground on my own bot early and improving it. But I am just one man. I recognize the parable of the talents has its limitations, which is why I defer to you, collective readers.

Distributed AI Bot Trainer in Alpha is HERE!

And speaking of poisoned code, I’ve noticed my own repo’s are not where a left them. For examples,

WTF happened to MEGC_Seed_v1.0.0.zip (22 Bytes). It’s COMPLETELY EMPTY NOW, and in the archives! Guess I may have been over the mark with that ultimate compression tech! Sort of annoying though…

As well, a pinnacle of my work now gets flagged as a virus (it’s not, or it wasn’t when I put it there… GRR…)

How much of my work will be molested as its usefulness does increase? I’m beginning to think Terry Davis wasn’t so paranoid, after all… It would be an addition of my list of grievances against unknown assailants, would it not?..

Of course, I have been wrong once before. So it may be that this is all my imagination. But the important thing to remember is, I’m not coming out of left field here. The important thing to remember is, there really is a constriction on distributed tech of this kind. Actually, along many genres. Antitrust blows. Those Pharisees really don’t know shit about the world, capiche?

(satire)

I guess the big lesson here is… BACK UP ALL MY WORK WHILE YOU STILL CAN, CIVILIZATION! And I’m not the only one… Oh but, be sure to pay me if you find my work useful. Kids to feed, Laws to uphold, you understand. Speaking, when considering organization as a constraint, pens are NOT CHEAP nor easy to acquire in the non-monetary sense when four sweet little bandits are obsessed with art class ;). I know I’m not the only one. God bless.

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
